LED tube retrofit in Derendinger branches across Switzerland

The Challenge

More than 30 branches of Derendinger AG faced high energy costs and considerable maintenance requirements caused by outdated T5 and T8 fluorescent lighting. The company needed an energy-efficient and sustainable LED lighting system that would combine durability, cost-effectiveness, and future-proof reliability — without disrupting day-to-day operations.

The Solution – LED Retrofit with GLT LED TUBE

A total of 12,500 outdated T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes were replaced 1:1 with GLT LED TUBES across more than 30 branches, following IEC/EN 62776 during ongoing operations. 

The existing luminaires and mounting systems were converted according to EN standards, and all old ballasts were removed. The LED driver is fully integrated into the GLT LED TUBE, allowing staff without electrical training to replace the lamp safely and easily. Maintenance costs drop to an absolute minimum, supported by a service life of up to 130,000 hours.

The new LED lighting meets all technical standards and legal requirements regarding quality, energy efficiency, and sustainability. The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) of the GLT LED TUBE enables full transparency of all environmental impacts throughout the product life cycle.
