LED lighting retrofit for the administration of the State of Brandenburg

The Challenge

The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg faced rising energy costs and increasing maintenance due to outdated T5 and T8 fluorescent lighting systems. At the same time, there was a clear need to modernise the lighting in ministries and administrative buildings — ensuring energy efficiency, durability and sustainability in public facilities.

The Solution – LED Retrofit with the GLT LED TUBE 

In the office areas of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg, a total of 272 T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes were replaced with GLT LED TUBES “Made in Germany” using a 1:1 retrofit process.

The existing luminaires and fixtures were retained and upgraded, while the old ballasts were bypassed. The ballast of the GLT LED TUBE is fully integrated into the tube – allowing future replacements to be carried out easily by staff without electrical expertise.

In addition to a significant reduction in energy costs, the new lighting impressed with its uniform, flicker-free light quality, ensuring consistent brightness and visual comfort at all workstations.

The GLT LED TUBE meets all requirements for modern office and industrial lighting: energy-efficient, durable, and sustainable. Thanks to the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), the environmental impact of the new LED lighting can be transparently verified – a further contribution to the ministry’s sustainability strategy.
