Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
For more than ten years, it has been our mission to produce an unprecedented quality of energy-efficient, long-lasting and sustainable LED light sources. Our branded product, the GLT TUBE, was the first LED light source to be certified with the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) by the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU).
The EPD and its importance
The EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is an environmental product declaration in accordance with international standards ISO 14025 and EN 15804 and is internationally recognised. It summarises all the energy and environmental impacts of a product, such as the consumption of primary energy and raw materials or the effects of transport and the options for repair and recycling. Each step is verified by independent auditors and experts. The environmental impact is documented on the basis of life cycle assessments not only over the period in which the product is used, but over the entire value chain of the product.
The EPDs are created on the basis of the results of the product life cycle assessment. The EPD is made publicly available in the form of a data sheet. This allows the user to view comparable, quantitative data on the ecological value chain of a product over its entire life cycle. International standardisation creates transparency and makes it easy to compare products.
EPD publicly available on IBU website
In November 2023, the Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) successfully issued the Environmental Product Declaration for the GLT TUBE. The EPD is now publicly available on the IBU platform in the form of a data sheet. The issue of the EPD underpins German LED Tech's high standards of objectivity, transparency, quality and sustainability for the GLT TUBE.
